About Margo
I am also a dentist who practiced for many years and who also worked as a healthcare administrator and researcher with the National Institutes of Health. In both fields I constantly found myself needing to self-promote either to grow my practice or, when I networked, or presented at large national and international research conferences and meetings. Frankly, I didn't really enjoy doing either and struggled most of the time. Don't get me wrong, I was very good at what I did and always managed to come across as though I was totally at ease. But I wasn't. I dreaded those times when I had to “perform.” As a practicing dentist, I never felt comfortable “tooting my own horn.” I guess I viewed this as bragging. As a healthcare administrator, I was uneasy about presenting my work to large groups of people, especially knowing the potential for critical and judgmental reviews. Neither of which I ever received. Why Coaching? I've always wanted to be more at ease with being in the spotlight and promoting what I do with grace and confidence. One day, by accident or by faith (I tend to think it was the latter) I read an article about the power of Coaching and its ability to transform the way we live. Always one to be on the cutting-edge of new things, I started working with a Coach. That was five years ago. It took a while to change my perspective and for me really get clear about what gave me the most joy in life and to gain the confidence to pursue my passion. For me, that passion is helping others come to grip with that inner Gremlin who robs them of the chance to boldly be all that they can be. Coaching has allowed me to do this. And it feels good! I am still licensed to practice dentistry, and I keep current. I'm married to a dentist so it is a major part of who I am. The years as a healthcare researcher and administrator gave me the inquisitive mind, and the unique ability to take vast amounts of complex information and boil it down to its core essence of what works. My ability to organize, plan and strategize gives me an incredible edge when it comes to working with my clients. Promoting a business is challenging, even for the extrovert. Imagine what it is like for the introvert. Though it may be challenging, it is very doable, especially with the help of a trained Coach who has experienced the same challenges. You can self-promote with a lot more ease and confidence than you may have now. I'm living proof and I can help you do so too. I'm on my personal and business path. Are you on yours?
